Privacy Policy
The Grass is Greener LLC ("we", "us") is a family lawn-care and beef business in Hyrum, Utah. This policy explains what information we collect when you use grassisgreener.us, our customer account, our services, or contact us, what we use it for, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details: your name, email address, phone number, service address, billing address, and how you prefer to be contacted.
- Requests and messages: what you write in a quote request, booking request, contact form, or beef-share request, and anything you tell us by phone, email or text.
- Property details: lawn size, services you want, how often, and notes about your property (gates, pets, sprinkler locations).
- Beef orders: what you ordered, how you chose to pay, pickup details, and your cutting instructions.
- Customer account: if you create an online account, your email and a password. We store only a secure one-way hash of the password, never the password itself.
- Quote approvals: when you approve a quote online, the option you chose, the name you typed as your signature, and the time.
Information we create while serving you
- Service history: scheduled and completed visits, dates, arrival windows, time on the job, and notes from our crew.
- Job photos: our crew may photograph your property to document the work done or a problem found.
- Billing records: invoices, payments, payment method type (for example card, bank transfer, check, cash, Venmo), and payment confirmation numbers you give us.
- A record of our communications with you: emails and texts we send you and notes of phone calls.
Information from public sources
- To estimate lawn size, we may look up your property's lot size in public county parcel records, measure it on aerial imagery, and convert your address to map coordinates. We use the coordinates to plan routes and estimate drive times.
Information collected automatically
- IP address: recorded when you submit a form, to stop spam and abuse, and recorded with an online quote approval as part of the signature record.
- Cookies: we use one cookie, and only to keep you signed in to your customer account. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Browser storage: our site may store small preferences in your own browser (for example the contents of your beef cart). This stays on your device.
- Server logs: like any website, our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
2. How we use it
- To give you quotes, schedule and perform services, and plan our crews' routes.
- To send you invoices, receipts, order confirmations, arrival notices, account sign-in links and other messages about your service or order.
- To process payments, including automatic payments you set up.
- To answer your questions and keep a record of what was agreed.
- To ask for a review after a job, if you are a customer. You can ignore it or ask us to stop.
- To keep our business and tax records, as the law requires.
- To protect our website and customers from spam, fraud and misuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising by anyone else.
3. Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the business, and only what each one needs to do its job:
| Provider | What they do | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Card and bank-transfer payments | Your payment details (entered directly with Stripe), name, email, amount. See Stripe's privacy policy. |
| Hostinger | Hosts our website and email | The information stored on our website and the emails we send |
| OpenRouteService (HeiGIT) | Road drive times between stops | Map coordinates only, no names |
| U.S. Census Bureau and Utah Geospatial Resource Center | Turning addresses into map locations; county parcel records; aerial imagery | The property address being looked up |
| Fuel prices along our routes; website fonts | Route locations without names; your IP address when your browser loads our fonts | |
| Text-message provider (when we start texting) | Delivers texts about your service | Your mobile number and the message |
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or with the buyer if the business is ever sold. The meat processor who cuts your beef receives your cutting instructions and the name on the order.
Links on our site to Google reviews and Facebook take you to those companies' own sites, which follow their own privacy policies.
4. Text messages
If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about your service: appointment reminders, "we're on our way" notices, quotes, invoices and replies to your messages. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help.
We do not sell, rent or share mobile phone numbers or text-messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is shared only with the provider that delivers our messages, and only so it can deliver them.
5. Payments
Card and bank details are entered on Stripe's secure pages and stored by Stripe, not by us. If you set up automatic payments, we keep only a reference number from Stripe and the type and last four digits of the card or account, so we can show you which one is on file. You can remove a saved payment method at any time in your customer account or by contacting us.
6. How long we keep it
- Billing, payment and other records needed for taxes are kept for at least seven years, as tax law requires.
- Customer and service records are kept while you are a customer, and for a reasonable time afterwards in case you return or a question comes up.
- Requests that never become work, and spam-protection records, are removed when no longer needed.
7. How we protect it
Our website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Staff sign in with their own accounts and see only what their role needs. Passwords are stored as secure hashes. We keep regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care, and we will tell you if a problem affects your information.
8. Your choices
- See or correct your information: much of it is in your customer account, or ask us.
- Delete your information: ask us and we will delete what we are not required to keep (for example, tax records must stay).
- Stop messages: reply STOP to texts, or tell us you no longer want review requests or other non-essential emails. We will still send messages you need, such as invoices and receipts.
Email support@grassisgreener.us or call (435) 282-0660. We will answer within 30 days.
9. Children
Our website and services are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we will let customers know by email.
